Why not organic cotton or recycled polyester ?

Plastic is extracted from oil, as are most synthetic fibres such as polyester, nylon or acrylic. And cotton, like other natural fibres, only partially meets the functional requirements of sportswear. They barely absorb moisture, are difficult to dry, are not very durable and fray quickly. Production is often associated with questionable labour standards and long transport routes. In many places, pesticides are used for cultivation or strong chemicals for processing. Plasticizers and dyes. Or large quantities of clean drinking water. Even with organic cotton - because it is a plant with an enormous thirst. The production of New Age fibres like TENCEL Lyocell requires only 10 to 20 times less water than cotton fibre.

Why is production so environmentally friendly ?

The production of TENCEL Lyocell uses a state-of-the-art process that is particularly environmentally friendly and guarantees the lowest possible emissions. This takes place in a closed circuit, in which there are practically no losses. The raw material is wood from sustainable forestry. Small pieces of wood are soaked to dissolve the pulp. This is mixed with an organic solvent and water. This mechanically dissolves the cellulose directly from the pulp. The special feature of this process is the almost complete reuse of the agents used. The solvent is environmentally friendly, biodegradable and more than 99% is recovered in a closed cycle and re-injected into the production process. The same applies to the process water, which is also reused repeatedly in a closed system.

Why do we need supporters ?

Our fabrics are a special combination of natural New Age fibres specially designed for our garments. It combines the best functions of Lyocell and Modal fibres. As it is not possible to use existing stocks, production requires a certain minimum quantity. We also guarantee fair and sustainable production standards that benefit all links in the value chain. Sustainability inspires - and not just us: Design Muon! is a special collection that accompanies our crowdfunding. We were supported by renowned Swiss graphic designers, illustrators and visual designers. And they have created their own designs for this series of T-shirts made of TENCEL. Each shirt in this limited edition contributes to the financing of the first production series of Muon Ecofunctional Wear.
